
How do you console a father who is a musician that just lost his 18 year old son, who was also a talented musician? The name for the event held Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Bert's Warehouse in Detroit could not have been more aptly named. The One Love Jam - musicians came from all over the area to downtown Detroit to jam in the name of love and raise funds for a funeral to bury Dorian Fiddler. The press announcement was ran May 7 in the Detroit Free Press.
Dorian Fiddler died Friday from heart failure, a complication of diabetes. In his short life, Dorian made an impression playing with his father's band, and performing at his school with Parliament-Funkadelic, the group in which his father played keyboards before launching a solo career. His percussion skills are captured on record with his band, Bsmnt City Anymle Kontrole.
Tonight, a who's who list of Detroit musicians will pay tribute at Bert's Warehouse Theater at a memorial fund-raiser billed as the One Love Jam. The lineup reflects Amp Fiddler's stylistic swath: He traversed the worlds of funk, hip-hop, techno, jazz and R&B... (read more)
